Sat Jul 19, 2025 9:30am - 11:00am
        Founders Day Parade

The parade will take place on Saturday July 19, 2025 along Grand River Avenue. Friends of UUCF are more than welcome to walk. Please rsvp to Hope Sorensen (hope.sorensen@uufarmington.org)

Wear: We will wear our blue chalice shirts if you have one, if not please wear a blue shirt. The parade theme is "Movie Madness" if you want to wear or bring additional decorations.

Bring: We will carry our church banner(s), and we ask that you bring your protest signs and protest memorabilia to carry or wear. Please also bring candy to throw to the crowd, we can never have too much candy.

Arrival: You should find our spot in the parade by 9:30 AM because the parade steps off around 9:40. Please account for parking time.

Parking: We recommend parking at or near the intersection of Grand River Ave. and Mooney Street, this is just west of Orchard Lake Rd. There is a fairly large parking lot in a strip center on the northwest corner where floats gather and organizers direct you to park.

Riders: For those who are interested in riding in a car instead of walking please let Hope Sorensen know as soon as possible. Plan to meet your driver(s) in the parking lot by 9:30.

Parade Route: We will walk from the staging area along Grand River, the official parade route will begin at Power Road on Grand River and end at Oakland Street on Grand River. The parade, including getting to our starting position, is about 1 mile long.

Ayahuasca: A Sacred Path to Healing and Transformation

Katie Testa is a healer and guide dedicated to deep personal transformation, conscious communication, and integrative healing. Drawing from Nonviolent Communication (NVC), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO), and developmental models like Integral Theory, Spiral Dynamics, and the Enneagram, she helps individuals navigate inner healing with compassion and clarity. She is trained in psychedelic preparation and integration, supporting those who seek expanded states of consciousness for growth and healing. In addition to her work with plant medicine, she is a trained birth doula and a volunteer with the No One Dies Alone program, holding space for life’s most profound transitions. As a mother of four, she brings a deeply nurturing presence to all she does.

For centuries, indigenous traditions of the Amazon have worked with Ayahuasca, a sacred plant medicine known for its profound ability to reveal, heal, and transform. Today, many seekers turn to Ayahuasca ceremonies for personal insight, emotional healing, and spiritual growth. In this talk, Katie will introduce the history and purpose of Ayahuasca, explore why individuals are drawn to plant medicine, and offer guidance on preparing for and integrating an Ayahuasca experience. Through personal stories and experiences she has witnessed, she will illuminate the healing potential of this sacred medicine while addressing common questions and concerns. Whether you are simply curious or considering this path for yourself, this discussion will provide a grounded and thoughtful perspective on working with Ayahuasca as a tool for deep transformation. A Q&A session will follow.
